Jay Maciejewski - Regional Scout

Jay Maciejewski has joined the staff of The Amateur Hockey Report as a Regional Scout.  He will travel, evaluate and provide reviews of tournaments and players throughout the hockey season.

The 39-year-old resident of West Seneca, NY, has extensive coaching experience with Cheektowaga High School (two years) and Amherst High School (three years) in the Buffalo area as well as the Buffalo Saints Midget AAA program (seven years).  During his tenure with the Saints, which began in 1997-98, the team won six New York State titles and reached the national semi-finals three times.  Maciejewski also guided the Western clubs to the gold medal at the Empire State Games twice, and served as an evaluator for the New York District State Select Festival and an instructor at the Buffalo Sabres High School Hockey Camp.

As a player, Maciejewski was a forward who spent two seasons with the Buffalo Junior Sabres of the North American Hockey League before entering the Division-I ranks.  He was the leading scorer at Northern Arizona University as a freshman in 1985-86.  When that program folded, he moved on to Michigan State where he played one season before an injury ended his career.  Maciejewski later earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Buffalo State.
