Huron Hockey Completes UK Camp EHK Sports Enterprises News Exclusive |
CHICAGO, IL - Huron Hockey jumped the great divide last month, landing in Chelmsford (Essex) to conduct a week long camp in conjunction with the Chelmsford Chieftains Minor Hockey Club.
Huron GM and former Junior A coach Mike Pilon, along with Huron Curriculum author and former NHL Coach Ted Sator took the reigns for this camp - leading the players through an exciting week of hockey development and fun. This could not have been possible however, without the outstanding support of several members of the Chelmsford Hockey Club including Coaching Director Martin Parfitt, along with coaches Andy Hannah, Phil Malcolm, Sean Easton, Russell Brummitt, and guest coach Pavel Kavcic of Slovenia. Hats off as well to the exceptional off-ice coordinators coordinated by Coach Parfitt.
While they were early mornings, the goalies shone every day, working hard to achieve their personal goals. The players enjoyed a very condensed week of instruction focusing on skating components, puck control, and small area games. Off the ice, players enjoyed refreshments compliments of the parents and sat in on lecture video sessions touching on such topics as training methods, nutrition, offensive tactics, and opportunities in hockey abroad.
The staff also had the chance to catch a couple of exciting Premier League games, where Coach Hannah's Chieftains went 1-1. Coach Sator also took the time to put the Premier team through some work, directing a practice for them as well during the week.
A big thank you to the Riverside Inn for their hospitality, as well as the parents for organizing a dinner outing which was a blast - giving the coaches a chance to socialize with the families.
Last but not least, we tip our hat to Coach Parfitt who took the time to help bring Huron Hockey to the the grand 'Ole Isle. Your efforts were much appreciated. See you in 2005!
